OVERVIEW A wonderful house for celebrating and entertaining. Casa Fiori is owned by the top designer and owner of a fashion design company. They love to entertain and the home has been beautifully laid out for celebrating together. It was their prinicipal family home for 9 years. They have entrusted the property exclusively to us, which means you won’t find it through any other agency. This is a special home. LOCATION The house sits on a beautiful hill called Cappella, just 8 kilometers (5 miles) northwest of the walled-town of Lucca, Tuscany. There are wonderful views from the house and pool, down the fertile valley to Lucca and beyond. The drive up the hill is very pretty, as the winding, paved road passes olive groves, farmhouses, vineyards and cypress trees. From the house, you can easily explore the countryside, Lucca (15 minutes), the Garfagnana region (30 minutes), Pisa (45 minutes), Florence (75 minutes), the Cinque Terre (90 minutes) and many, many more attracations. PROPERTY AND GROUNDS The property sits on a hillside, with lovely gardens and many outdoor spaces to gather. The house itself rambles over four levels, like many original farmhouses, in an organic fashion. The owners love to entertain, and there are great spaces for this, including a small exterior building in the garden, which has been converted to a charming seating/dining area with great views, and the huge entertaining room is 15 x 5 meters, with fireplace, a huge teak table, two story ceiling height, and a balcony/mezzanine encircling the second story. The living room, with fireplace, is built straight into the stone of the hillside, with huge exposed boulders as part of the wall. And inside the infinity pool, there are boulder stairs, and inlaid tile designs by a local artist. Solar panels provide most of the electric and hot water for the home. Decorations are traditional Tuscan art, and beautiful objects collected from all over the world. Third Level

Dear James,A thousand thanks from our entire family for a glorious week in Lucca and Casa Fiori. I had very high expectations from all the glorious pictures and tributes, and from all the tender care you gave me throughout the planning process, but everything about the week exceeded my expectations. The house was perfect for our family. It is of course gorgeous and very well appointed. Every family had lots of living space and we enjoyed every outdoor space. Due to the heat, we usually spent the mornings, thru lunch, out and about and returned for lots of fun in the pool. Karolina's dinners were superb, and provided lots of leftovers for other nights which we supplemented from the garden and the fantastic Esselunga. The pizza party was incredibly successful. Karolina was terrific, answering any questions and providing helpful recommendations for both Lucca and beyond. Many of us went to the private beach at Marina di Pietrasanta, renting two cabanas at Karolina's suggestion. Some of us spent that time enjoying the charming town of Pietrasanta. On other days, we visited Pisa and Barga, with great success. Joe and I had never been to Pisa in over a dozen trips to Italy, and were very impressed with the cathedral and Camposanto. Barga was particularly meaning to me as my maternal grandfather was born in Fornaci di Barga in 1893. What beautiful country! We enjoyed Lucca several days during the week, both the sights and the terrific shopping! The tour with Allesandra was perfect. She was charming, knowledgable and in particular kept the children interested and engaged. We also thoroughly enjoyed the wine tasting at Fabrica di San Martino with Paola and Giuseppe. It is a very special place and they are special people. There was one other family there, a British couple with two little girls so the children were well occupied. We bought a lot of wine and olive oil! I remember my Nonno always telling me that the olive oil from Lucca was the best of Italy and now my whole family agrees. Further, they were all smitten with Lucca and its surroundings and I am sure will return in the future.

Thanks again for everything you did to make our family trip such a success. We will be back and I hope we will meet you in the future. We will certainly recommend DWL travel to anyone who will listen.

Kindest regards, Mary Beth (guest with family and friends, August 2015)

What a perfect vacation experience. This beautiful villa is truly special. Fabulous panoramic views, peaceful and convenient location, and extensive extras provided throughout the home provided for a week that surpassed expectations. This home is more gorgeous then even the photos show, and the owners have ensured that every need and want is provided. Beyond what we knew was provided, we were spoiled with an abundant vegetable garden, gourmet spices and kitchen necessities, a high-end washing machine and appliances, and furnishings, books, videos and games that allowed us to feel completely and luxuriously at home. The outdoor "piggery" is a stand alone small all-window building with wetbar, large dining table, and gorgeous views. James was extremely helpful and responsive throughout the rental process, and Karolina ensured that all our needs were meet and questions answered while we were there. The only part we didn't like about Casa Fiori was leaving it. We can't wait to go back!

Christina M. and family (New York), guests July 2012.

Before we arrived at Casa Fiori, we had a taste of how fabulous it is by browsing James's gorgeous photos and from Google Street View. But nothing could prepare our group for just how incredible this house and the scenery really are. The house is huge, with an eclectic mix of Tuscan features, modern appliances and fixtures, and exotic artifacts from around the world. There is every luxury and comfort here, including beautiful outdoor spaces and the pool, beautiful dining spots, lovely bathrooms and more. As a group of foodies, we made great use of the gourmet kitchen, picking fresh fruit and vegetables from the garden every day to complement our many trips to the local Essalunga grocery store (which is itself divine). Then there were karaoke nights (complete with speaker, mic and instruments), with my five-year-old as hostess, in the TV room. Great fun! James gave us some terrific insider tips about where to shop, day trips (including excellent directions), restaurants and more. He helped us make the most of our way-too-short week at Casa Fiori. Karolina and David also helped make our stay wonderful, with advice about local activities, keeping the grounds and pool immaculate and their warmth and friendliness. They all made sure we knew that, truly, Casa Fiori was our home for the week. I wish it could have been ours for longer. If you want a luxurious yet comfortable Tuscan villa experience that's great for groups and kids, close to many must-do day trips, and is "secluded" yet minutes from the walled city of Lucca, this is the place. Not just recommended: encouraged! You'll love it. DD and family/friends (Toronto), guests September 2012
